The Master Toy Designer is responsible for partnering with all the master toy partners working to develop the product lines with all master toy partners.  Representing the brands as a licensor, this role will provide creative guidance for all toy product category strategies to the licensees which include toy design, packaging design and ensuring that product is on-brand.  This role will work closely with the Master Toy business manager in developing product strategies.


  • Kick-off design direction with licensees in line with Global and Regional brand direction and strategic criteria.
  • Drive innovation through design and product development, raising the bar in Toys / Hard Lines
  • Partner with Business Teams to understand their strategies and formulate and deliver the creative plan to support these.
  • Work with the toy business partner and licensees to understand pricing architecture and ensure adherence to cost and target profit margin goals throughout product development.
  • Input and participate in style guide production as it applies to Toy categories with clear expectations on the needs for the relevant categories.
  • Take full ownership for projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • When needed, create asset strategies that meet the needs of the different retailers
  • Commit to consistently improving creative development – push the creative boundaries to develop business relevant and original creative solutions for WildBrain brands.


  • Toy Product design experience is a must with a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • At least 3-5 years professional experience in same or related category industries: Toy and Plush experience also preferred
  • BS/BA in Design
  • Strong knowledge of moulding, materials and finishes preferred
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills required
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office- PowerPoint savvy, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator required
  • Team player ' working with a diverse group of talent
  • Sense of urgency ' this is a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Combines creativity with a strong commercial sense
  • Organized - this position requires solid project management skills
  • Builds strong relationships and utilizes influencing skills and diplomacy to affect outcomes
  • Understanding of toy industry and commercial needs from design
  • Professional maturity; Ability to assimilate constructive criticism and execute accordingly
